My Sprayer Setup
Warm weather & sunshine means that it’s finally the busy season for painters - and I’ve been busy! I’ve been working on interior new construction, exterior repaints, furniture, cabinets - every job under the sun! And even though I’m bouncing around doing all kinds of work, some things always stay the same - like my airless spraying setup. The products I’ve always got on me are a mix of the new and the best of the old, so if you want to know what you should pick up and try out - look no further!
ExitFlex Speedy 6 Tip
Lately, I’ve been reaching for ExitFlex’s tips over some of my other favorites.
This innovative airless tip comes with an extra seal & seal in the unit, and a built-in fitting tool housed in the handle. No more running back to your trailer! This allows you to store, install, and remove your seat & seals for a faster & convenient setup. With the Speedy 6 line of tips, you’ve also got universal compatibility with different systems, guards, and guns.
ExitFlex TwinFit Guard
Universal. Airless. Guard. Yep, this guard can house all of your tips! One one side, you can fit your Titan, Tritech, RAC5, and ExitFlex tips. And on the other, your RACX tips.
Production? Fine finish? High-pressure? Low pressure? The TwinFit Guard is perfect for every situation - use this for all your airless spraying needs! Like many painters, I’ve got a bucket full of airless tips that I’m constantly swapping between as the job needs, and with this universal guard, I’ve never got to worry about swapping to a different guard to get the job done. ExitFlex’s products are quickly becoming essential to my spraying set-up!
Triade Quick-Release Extensions
When you’re spraying complicated areas, like stairwells and closets, it can be annoying to need to switch to a different length gun extension every minute or so. But, with these quick-release extensions, it’s a breeze. Now, it takes me only 20 seconds to remove my guard, click off the extension I’m using, click on the one I want, and screw my guard back on. No more tedious unscrewing of each gun extension - this is genuinely a time-saving product.
These come in every size you could need - from 6” to 36”. Lightweight, rated for up to 4050 PSI, and they never leak. You will also need to purchase the Triade Gun Adaptor to be able to correctly attach these gun extensions.
The Fan Pivot
If you’ve seen this bright green tool on my gun in any of my videos and have been wondering what it is - it’s called the fan pivot. This tool allows you to effortlessly rotate your spray fan 90 degrees with each turn. A quick flick of your finger and you can be spraying vertically - another, and you’re back to horizontal in seconds. Rated for up to 3900 PSI, the fan pivot is still just as
easy to manipulate when there’s a lot of pressure going through it, and it’s not going to make your gun feel bulky or weigh you down at all either!
With this tool, you’ll have less strain on your wrists and arms trying to manipulate your spray fan just how you want it. Plus, this is a much safer option than bending and twisting your guard; no one is 100% safe from a paint injection accident. The fan pivot makes it so you can keep your hands and fingers out of harm’s way while manipulating your spray orientation quickly.
Hose Whips
Gun extensions and hose whips are two of the spraying accessories that I get the most criticism for using. The banding on the hose that comes with your sprayer is pretty stick and doesn’t allow for the best maneuverability of your gun, which is why I always am using my custom Paint Life hose whip, or the Swiss ExitFlex hose whip. A hose whip can give you 3’ or 5’ of flexibility, or even up to 50’! There’s no need to keep fighting with your stiff hose - just get a hose whip and see how much easier spraying can be.
Titan & TriTech
When it comes to the gun & the sprayer I’m using, it depends on the project. Lately, the sprayers I’ve been using are the TriTech T5, T8, and the Titan Impact 440X. When working on smaller jobs, I’ll often opt to use the Titan Impact 440x with the Titan Rx80 gun. Most recently, I was using this setup to spray some baseboards.
On a recent new construction project, the TriTech T8 was getting a lot of work when it came to spraying the walls & ceilings, paired with the TriTech 380 gun. And in general, the TriTech T5 sprayer is probably what I reach for the most as another small body sprayer that can handle larger jobs. TriTech sprayers are high-quality, offering precision and durability, while Titan has high-output, professional-grade, reliable sprayers. So, at the end of the day, the sprayer & gun I end up using is just going to come down to the job specifics or my personal preference.
I’ve tested every one of these products personally, and they are all my favorites when it comes to tackling any airless spraying job. While it may seem like a bulky and overwhelming setup, especially when you see it in a video, just know that everything I’m using is doing its job to make spraying more efficient and hassle-free.
