How To Apply Expert Stain

🔧 Surface & Product Prep

  1. Mix thoroughly before use

    • Stir very well before starting.

    • Stir frequently during application (pigments settle).

    • If using multiple pails, mix them together (“box” them) for consistent color.

    • DO NOT thin the product.

🎯 Best Application Method

✅ Preferred Method: Airless Sprayer (Flood Coat)

  • Spray the board until the wood stops absorbing the stain.

  • Apply enough product so the surface is fully saturated.

  • Excess stain will bead and run off without streaking.

🖌 Alternative Application Tools

You may also apply using:

  • Brush

  • Roller

  • Stain mitt

  • Stain pad/applicator

  • Sprayer

Apply one generous coat, fully saturating the wood.

⚠️ Important Application Rules

  • DO NOT allow stain to pool or puddle on flat surfaces.

  • After 30–60 minutes, inspect for excess stain.

  • On horizontal surfaces:

    • Back brush if needed.

    • Wipe away puddles or excess with a dry cloth.

  • On vertical surfaces:

    • The product self-levels.

Leaving excess stain can:

  • Create a shiny film

  • Delay drying

  • Cause premature coating failure

⏳ Drying & Cure Time

  • The penetrating oils dry slowly for several days.

  • Final color may take several weeks to fully develop.

  • No walking for 24 hours.

  • Allow 72 hours before light foot traffic.

Do you use linseed oil on decks and fences? I’ve been trying it on my house and want to offer it to my customers in the Atlanta GA market.
